1. Applicant (name, address, nationality)
Either the inventor of an invention or his assignee can file a patent application for the invention with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).  The applicant may be either a natural person or a juristic person.
2. Inventor (name, address, nationality)
3. Title of Invention; and
4. Priority Claim (country, filing date, application number, if any. 
[In case of PCT, a copy of the cover sheet of the international application published under PCT and/or PCT/IPEA/409 Form if any amendments are made under PCT Article 19 or 34.]

 
 
C. Certified Copy of Priority Document and Translation thereof
 
 

 In order to enjoy the priority right, an application should be filed with the KIPO within one (1) year from the filing date of the first priority application.  A certified copy of the priority document and translation thereof must be submitted within sixteen (16) months from the earliest priority date as claimed.  

 In the case of a PCT application, according to the regulations of Enforcement Decree of the Korean Patent Act, a Korean translation of the priority document must be submitted within the due date for submitting the document regarding the filing of the international patent application into the national phase or in the event the Commissioner of the KIPO receives a certified copy of the priority document from the WIPO for the PCT case, the Korean translation of the priority document should be submitted within two (2) months from being informed of the arrival date of the certified copy.

 
 
D. (General) Power of Attorney
 
 

 A (General) Power of Attorney should be submitted within the due date prescribed by the KIPO in a Notice stating that the document should be submitted within one (1) month from the date of mailing the Notice.  The due date can be extended twice for one (1) month each time.

Any changes on the executed (General) Power of Attorney may result in the document being rejected by the KIPO.  Thus, an original, properly executed (General) Power of Attorney without any amendments or corrections, should be submitted.
